Sambuca, “Borgo dei Borghi” (the most beautiful village of Italy) in 2016, is one on those Sicilian surprises, one of those villages rich in history, culture and monuments, but most of the time are not well known or are famous in other respects.
A place where many souls and dominations have lived, Sambuca hosts Greek, Carthaginian and Arab heritage. The small streets of the Saracen quarter, the small houses of the alleys joined by the characteristic arches, the houses dense to create a network, one on each other, but also the surnames, the toponymy, the linguistic uses, recall the Arabic domination of Al-Zabut.
Then it was the turn of the Mother church and the Catalan taste: the warm color of the sandstone, the churches in Baroque style, the courtyards, the processions, the celebrations, the sweets.
Sambuca with its culture, its artistic and cultural heritage, its lake, is one of those places that you will remember forever!
